Windows XP & Office 2003 End of Life

You have less than 5 months to replace your Windows XP machines. The Windows XP and Office 2003 end of life date is April 8, 2014. If you do not upgrade your machines, they will become increasingly risky to use because Microsoft will not be providing security updates or patches anymore.

A good example is the latest Microsoft security breach noted in Microsoft Security Advisory (2896666). This breach affects Windows XP and Windows Vista computers running any version of Office, and Windows 7 and Windows 8 computers running Office 2003 or 2007. (Windows 7 and Windows 8 computers running Office 2010 or higher are not affected). Microsoft is working on a patch for this breach right now; however, when breaches occur after April 8, affecting Windows XP or Office 2003, no patch will be created – leaving your machine vulnerable.

You can still use Windows XP and Office 2003 after April 8, but it will be a security risk for your company. Please consider replacing your machines as soon as possible. For more information or to discuss how your network needs to be upgraded, please call us at 410-691-1130.
